Commerical Traffic

Under normal operating conditions, all motor vehicles that are permitted to travel on the Trans Canada Highway are permitted on the Confederation Bridge.

In November 2002, Confederation Bridge launched StraitPass, a secure, convenient electronic toll collection system for trucks and buses.

Special Loads in accordance with Federal Standards for Dangerous Goods and all Oversize Vehicles, must report to either the New Brunswick or P.E.I. Confederation Bridge facility as indicated on the road signage leading to the Bridge. This ensures the coordination of the safe crossing of such materials.

"Visiting the Island in itself is a wonderful vacation, and it was fun to have crossed the bridge when we left as one last thing to see. It is a tourist item all by itself. We hope to return soon!"
